A New Love of Knitting Mystery KAL

knitQDo you enjoy a good mystery in the summer? Red Barn Yarn has teamed up with Love of Knitting once again in a Mystery Knit Along! Last year’s mystery involved Red Barn Yarn Worsted in variegated colorways and cables; click here to view the project. This year, these exclusive kits contain our lovely Lace yarn and the beads you will need. The pattern is revealed as the mystery unfolds. Each clue is sent to your inbox in the Love of Knitting newsletter starting June 10; we hope you will join in the adventure!

The goal of the mystery knit along is to have fun, try something new, and ultimately end up with a wonderful finished object! The clues are sent out every other week, so you can work at your own pace. Maybe this will be your first time to work with laceweight yarn or beads? Over on our Pinterest boards we have gathered a few tips, tricks, and advice for working with lace and beads that you might find useful as well as boards full of project inspiration.

As you work through each of the clues, we would love to hear about your experience and see photos! We welcome your pictures and posts to the Red Barn Yarn Facebook page, Red Barn Yarn Afficianados Ravelry group, or even tag @RedBarnYarn on Twitter! Enjoy the mystery!

Mystery Knit Along

RBYKAL2Red Barn Yarn is pleased to share with you a new partnership we have started this year.  Together with Love of Knitting, Red Barn Yarn has created kits containing our specially dyed Worsted Weight yarn to use in a brand new Mystery Knit Along! The clues to help you knit (and solve) the mystery are sent directly to your inbox in the Love of Knitting newsletter. The first clue has been sent out, and it is an easy introduction to the project.

The vision for this is based in nature and started as a complete mental image for Designer Catherine Petitti, which she then sketched on paper. This pencil drawing was shared with Molly Conroy-Ungerecht who took it from paper to  yarn and three dimensions. Molly is a fabulous designer / knitter / part-owner of the Hands on Knitting Center in Redlands, CA. The yarn has been specifically hand painted to maximize the impact of the design. Kits are available in three colorways: (shown above from left to right)  Charcoal and Vintage Leather, Birch, and Tanzanite.

Of course, it is possible to participate in the Mystery Knit Along using your own choice of Red Barn Yarn Worsted Weight and you will get a nice finished product,  but without the WOW factor. We would love to hear from you as you work on this project! We’d love to see your project progress and invite you to share with us in our Ravelry group, on our Facebook page or even tag us in a Tweet!
